This is a really neat way to fix your heartburn problem.

I have helped a lot of people with intractable reflux problems. Five years ago, it required a surgery known as a Nissen. This laparoscopic surgery was far superior than an open operation, but the 360 degree wrap of the stomach around the esophagus could cause trouble eating and bloating.

Now, however, for the last few years, I have been able to do incisionless wraps to prevent reflux and help my patients be heartburn free without taking medications!

This procedure, called Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication (TIF), is performed through the mouth with no abdominal incisions and patients typically return to work in less than a week. Associated complications, which usually resolve within a few weeks of surgery, are typically lower than for laparoscopic procedures.

To date, TIF surgeries have an excellent safety profile. TIF has been performed in over 10,245 cases worldwide with no associated mortalities. Clinical studies demonstrate that TIF patients do not experience long-term complications commonly associated with conventional anti-reflux surgery such as chronic dysphagia (trouble swallowing), gas bloat syndrome and increased flatulence.

It must be said that for really severe cases of reflux, the more robust laparoscopic surgery may be the better choice despite the higher incidence of side effects. Nonetheless, for most patients, the TIF offers that in between option for those dependant on medication but do not need a major wrap.

If you suffer from heartburn and your medications just aren't cutting it anymore, come on in and see me. I can help!
