Will I need surgery every time I get a band fill?

I live in Houston, Texas. I am thinking about having weight loss (bariatric) surgery. I do not want the gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy. I think I want a Lapband surgery (adjustable gastric band), but will I need surgery every time I get a band fill?
No. Band fills are a matter of a simply visit to the clinic and a small injection under the skin. The port of the gastric band lies on the abdominal wall, under the skin and fatty tissue. This allows your doctor to feel the port under the skin. Using a thin, specialized the needle, the doctor inserts the needle through the skin. Local anesthetic can be used, but for most patients there is so little discomfort that this is not typically necessary.
The doctor will then inject the desired amount of sterile saline (or remove saline depending on the need) into the port which is connected through a tubing to the band around the stomach in order to adjust the tightness of the band around the top of the stomach. The needle is removed, a band aide is applied, and the procedure is over in less than five minutes.
These clinic visits are usually done monthly for five to six months after the band is put into place at surgery. Once the band is adequately tightened to cause restriction, visits become less frequent (every 3-6 months or as needed). Patients can expect to lose about 2 pounds a week at this point. Average weight loss after band surgery is 45% excessive weight loss at three years.
